Underneath everything we are, underneath everything we do, we are all people.  Connected. Interdependent. United.  And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED. 

LIVE UNITED is an experience.  It’s a promise.  It’s a call to action.  Every day, residents answer that call to advance the common good in their own way.  Read a few of their stories, and submit one of your own.

My passion is reading.  I volunteer with Youth Net an hour a month to help children work on their reading skills—and I look forward to when I’ll have more time to volunteer. I think it’s important to smile—everything we say and do makes an impact on others—you never know what someone else  might be going through at the time.  That small gesture might mean the world to someone sick, down on their luck or just having a bad day.  I learned from my father the importance of approaching each day with the goal of doing my best.  That’s how I LIVE UNITED.

 I volunteer in a lot of different ways: cleaning carpets at Hope Lodge, serving meals with Rotarians at the Samaritan House, coaching in local sports and mentoring a student with Pathway Partners.  I really want to help close the gap between needs and community resources.  When we share the treasures in our life: money, time and talents to help others, we benefit, and so do our families and our communities.  I love bringing together people to collectively use their talents and passions for the good of helping people … that’s how I LIVE UNITED.
