This Thanksgiving, remember your neighbors in need
|
|

Drive Chair Ginny Mazza marks campaign progress on sign located by the
Shoppes at Wood Ridge Mall on North Central.
Everywhere you turn, there are people who need help. Your friends and
neighbors-people who never had to reach out for help before are now faced
with finding new ways to care for their families.
Without enough contributions to the campaign, programs wouldn't have the
resources to assist as many people who are seeking help. This means fewer
residents receiving hot meals because they won't be able to afford them
without the Home Delivered Meals scholarship funded by United Way.
Tight program budgets also increases the safety risk for
victims of domestic violence. The first thing Personal Development Center
would eliminate is gas or food cards. Without means for transportation or a
means to start over, it's a real possibility that residents would stay in
the home with their abuser.
These are only two examples of hard decisions the 37 funded
programs would have to make if individuals do not continue to give to the
campaign.
"You don't have to look far to see the need in our community.
We're making progress, but there's still more work. If you haven't made a
contribution, please consider doing so. It's too important not to give.
Every contribution improves the lives of your friends, relatives and
neighbors in need," said Ginny Mazza, Drive Chair.
Your contribution improves lives by creating opportunities for
residents who live and work in the Marshfield area. It's not just a
financial gift, it's of gift of hope. Help us continue to keep the
Marshfield area great.
Every gift makes a difference, give today within your budget,
and you can help improve lives. We are counting on your support to help fund
37 local programs that create opportunities for our residents to succeed.
To give, contact your workplace coordinator or human services
department, click here to complete a pledge form, email or mail
contributions to United Way at PO Box 771, Marshfield, WI 54449.

Real Stories. Real People.
Right Here in the Marshfield area.
|
|
My name is Pattie. I volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, a
United Way funded program that matches adults to mentor children and teens.
When I met Teri she was struggling. She was 12, and felt as though she just
didn't fit in.
So she stopped trying. Her grades were poor and she was just as
unhappy at home as she was at school. We talked, about everything-school,
her interests, boys and more.
What Teri discovered is she just had to find her niche to fit
in. And Teri's was the arts. She writes poetry and plays violin, and with a
little bit of help, she found people who were interested in the same things.
Now, just two years later, Teri is an extraordinary 8th Grader.
She's earning a 4.0, having her poetry published and performed a solo for
Solo & Ensembles.
But none of this would have been possible without United Way
funding for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Your contributions gave me the
chance to help Teri.
In the time it takes you to give today, you give a wonderful, bright and
vibrant teenager the opportunity for a happy and successful life.
Helping Teri realize her goals, that's how I LIVE UNITED.
