Brief Agency Overview: Lutheran Social Services (LSS) of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan is sponsored by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. In the two-state area, it is affiliated with six synods that include 824 congregations. The agency's roots can be traced back more than 110 years. Today Lutheran Social Services is the largest human service agency in the two-state area. LSS has approximately 200 program locations in 93 cities and more than 2,200 employees. Through these resources and programs LSS is committed to serving children, youth, adults, and older adults and families of diverse background and needs as they seek to achieve and maintain responsibility and direction in their lives and in the broader community.

List of programs, descriptions, eligibility requirements and costs of each: Birth Parent Counseling Program: A free and confidential counseling and support service offered to individuals experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. We serve birth parents of all religious, ethnic, and racial backgrounds at all stages of their pregnancy and after their child's birth. Locally, the Wausau Branch office serves ten counties including marathon, Wood, Portage, Clark, Taylor, Langlade, Lincoln, Price, Oneida and Vilas.
Volunteer Opportunities: Distributing program brochures and pamphlets to local community resources.
