American Red Cross - Wood County Chapter
Mission Statement: American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers that provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross in Red Crescent Movement.
Brief Agency Overview: American Red Cross has offices in Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield that offer classes on CPR, First-Aid, babysitting and disaster training. The agency provides disaster relief to those people in the community who have suffered a single-family fire or other widespread disasters, i.e. tornado, winter storm etc. American Red Cross is also the only agency recognized by all branches of the military, as their means of emergency communication to service members and their families. The Armed Forces emergency services is entirely run by volunteers who maintain service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Hours of Operation: 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M. Monday - Friday, both in Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield.

List of programs, descriptions, eligibility requirements and costs of each:
Blood Services: There are over a dozen blood drives a year in the Wood County area. Volunteers are needed to run the drive. Donors must be 17 years of age, at least 110 pounds and in good health.
CPR/First-Aid: Offices offer a wide variety tailored to business or personal interest.
Babysitting Classes: Classes are scheduled once a month; participants must be at least 11 years old.
Disaster Classes: Services are free to the public. They range in subject matter. Anyone wishing to become a disaster volunteer, or just learn more about how to respond in emergencies can call for more information.
Armed Forces Emergencies Services: The local chapter responds to area needs for communication to the men and women in the service and their families at home.
Volunteer Opportunities: Armed Forces Emergency Services on call volunteers needed. Volunteers can donate their time right from home.
