Youth Net
Mission Statement: The Youth Net Program: assists in developing healthy environments that will foster resilient, successful children, youth and families; serves as a catalyst for program design and development; provides technical assistance & consultation, education & training, and resources.
Brief Agency Overview: Since 1990, a Marshfield area adolescent pregnancy prevention project, known as the FACT program, provided case management, peer mentoring, education and recreation activities for hundreds of high-risk youth and their families. Thousands of community members, including youth and their families, have been involved in educational program covering human sexuality. In 2002, the FACT and Youth Net programs merged, and became Youth Net. The Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth Advisory Council guides the work and develops and maintains community relationships that help sustain the program.

Youth Net is a Marshfield area community-based youth development program that provides free services to youth, ages 9-18, and their families. Programs include: regular group sessions; peer mentoring; case management; family activities; youth development learning events; a Homework Club that meets at least two times a week during the schol year; and exposure to the business, educational and cultural life of the community through field trips and presentations.
The Youth Net program is designed to guide youth in low-income families living in high-risk environments, toward making successful choices for their future. Core areas of focus are school success/academic support and social and personal development. The program also addresses the key goals of reducing the incidence of out-of-wedlock and teenage pregnancies and other health related risk factors.
Each youth is assigned to a member of the Youth Net staff team to assist him or her in developing a personal developmnet plan and to provide case management services to help the youth succeed with the plan. Case management services include tracking and monitoring each student's school performance and progress in meeting the individual's goals, with additional support strategies to assist students who have unmet health care needs. The program has a variety of components including life skills, family and social skills, and academic support. As part of case management youth and families are referred to health care providers and other agencies within the community that can assist youth and families meet basic needs.
Volunteer Opportunities: The Marshfield Clinic employs peer mentors ages 15-20 to mentor 1-2 youth ages 8-18. AmeriCorps members are enrolled to serve the Youth Net Program and community members volunteer to serve on the Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth.
