Clerical

Office Training Position for Teen
The Marshfield office of the American Red Cross-Wood County Chapter would welcome an opportunity to train a teen volunteer to work in the office. No prior training is needed; However, a professional atmosphere needs to be maintained. This would give a high school student a hands-on opportunity to work in a professional setting a non-profit office.

Clerical
The Marshfield Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Convention & Visitors Bureau needs volunteers through out the year to help out at community events, including Dance Weekend, Dairyfest, Maple Fall Fest and the Quilt Show. Volunteers willing to collate flyers to be interested in the Chamber's monthly Newsletter.  Time needed would be 4 - 6 hours towards the end of the month.

Family Resource Center-Office Assistance
Adult volunteers are needed for variety of clerical tasks, including helping with mailings, filing, and organizing. You may bring your children along to play while you work! 

Versatile Office Aid
An enthusiastic volunteer is needed on a weekly basis to provide variety of office functions for the Marshfield Area United Way, First Call for Information, and the Marshfield Area Volunteer Center. The volunteer will assist in and perform various types of clerical work, including making phone calls, updating information, mailing, web page updates, and some delivery.

UW-Marshfield/Wood County - Continuing Education

The Continuing Education program has great a volunteer opportunity for a person looking for a flexible schedule in a flexible environment.  Hours vary weekdays between 8am and 3pm.  Work the days you want and when you want.  Light office duties include answering the phone, mailings, updating information, filing, coping, ushering theatre events and more.  Be apart of the campus environment and lifelong learning.  We are looking for a friendly, outgoing and committed volunteer who likes to work with people.  Volunteer may participate in (limited) free programming and other special events and offerings.

Cultural

Chestnut Avenue Center for the Arts
There is a continuous need for volunteers for the Chestnut Avenue Center for the Arts, including: clerical, gallery sitting, small construction projects, inside/outside clean-up, and committee positions.

Art Gallery - Ongoing
New Visions Gallery is looking for people to manage the reception desk and gift shop area one or two mornings or afternoons am month. Duties include greeting visitors, making sales and occasional labeling tasks. Interest in art is a plus.

Education/Tutoring

English Language Tutors
Literacy Council -- There is an ongoing need for tutors who can volunteer two hours per week to tutor adults either in reading or English as a second language. Training is available.

Tutors

If you enjoy working with adolescents and have an hour or two each week to give, consider volunteering at the Marshfield Middle School as a tutor.


Families

Family Resource Center
Family Resource Center - Adult volunteers are needed for a variety of opportunities at the Family Resource Center. If you are interested in a ongoing commitment to assist children and families, this may be the place for you.

Victim Advocates
On-call advocate: An advocate's role could range from making phone calls to supporting a victim through an evidence collection exam. CWA-SAVS (Central Wisconsin Area-Sexual Assault Victim Services) would offer free training for all volunteers. CWA-SAVS will work with volunteers to develop an on call schedule according to volunteer availability. Time commitment for volunteers could be as little as one weekend every two months or more frequently is desired.

Soup or Socks
Soup or Socks food and clothing pantry is in need of caring individuals to volunteer their time.  We hold two annual food drives that are in need of volunteers as well.

Home Delivered Meals
Marshfield's Home Delivered Meals program needs volunteer drivers to help with meal deliveries in the city of Marshfield. Volunteers are asked to help with deliveries on day/week. Meals are picked up at Saint Joseph's Hospital, and total time involved is about one and 1/4 hours. Families are welcome! Weekday and Weekend drivers needed.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat needs volunteer help "behind the scenes" throughout the year on various committees as well as "hands-on-help" during the summer months on home construction sites.

Volunteers for Friday night dinner
Samaritan House -- Kitchen Angels for Samaritan House are needed on a continual basis to pick up, heat and serve meals to the needy every Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 604 S Chestnut Avenue. Angels are asked to provide desserts and beverages for approximately 35 guests, and be on hand to serve and offer hospitality. Volunteers for Friday evening meals are scheduled weeks in advance.

St. Vincent de Paul Outreach & Thrift Store
Food Pantry -
Flexible hours available for volunteers to assist with unloading trucks, stocking shelves and filling freezers.
Library - Substitutes needed to cover open library hours.
Thrift Store - Sorting and stocking merchandise. Customer service opportunities.

Store Repair Shop - Readying donations for sale in the thrift store.

Marshfield Goodwill Store
Flexible volunteer opportunities available. Assist with taking in new donations, sorting, stocking, and processing merchandise.

Saint Joseph's Hospital Adult Volunteers
Share your time and talents in a variety of positions, including Direction Desk (sit at this desk and help visitors find their way), Saturday Sign-up for chapel services (visit patient rooms to see if they would like to attend chapel services), Escorts ( if you like to walk, you'll like taking visitors to areas throughout the Hospital), Pediatric Unit (assist with children who are patients in this unit), Laugh Mobile (humor cart that goes room-to-room), Family Waiting Room (deliver messages to family members waiting for a loved one who is in surgery), Critical Care Waiting Room (be a resource for family members), Library Cart (cart with books and magazines that goes to patients' rooms), Gift Shop and Coffee Cafe.  Shifts and schedule caries to match your availability.  Training is provided for all positions.

Marshfield Area YMCA
The YMCA is in need of volunteers to be fitness coaches/trainers willing to make commitment of 6 to 10 hours per week. Other volunteer needs include child watch, special events, corporate office, aquatics and youth sports. Volunteer ages range from 9 years old to adults. Commitment time is flexible.

Norwood Health Center
Norwood Health Center needs volunteers to share their time and talents. Many areas of interest are available, including one-to-one visiting with residents, musical activities, group entertainment, and a multitude of opportunities for life-enhancing skills.

The American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge
Adult/Teen volunteers needed for office assistance, cooking/baking, bed making and light housekeeping.

Ministry Home Care Hospice
Various levels of volunteering. Training available.
Patient/Family Support -
Provide social, respite, errand for family, etc., as needed to support the family in their home setting or a t House of the Dove. Volunteers especially needed in Marshfield and areas north of Marshfield right now.
Hose of Dove Clerical -
various office assistance duties.

Economic Restructuring -
Strengthen the district's existing economic base while finding ways to expand it to meet new opportunities.
Design -
Enhancing the commercial district's physical appearance by rehabilitating historic building and managing design improvements and new construction.
Organization -
Building consensus and cooperation among the many groups and individuals who have vested interest in the commercial district - and a role in the revitalization process.
Promotion - Marketing the commercial district's assets to customers, residents, potential investors, new business and visitors.

Disaster Response Volunteers

American Red Cross Wood County Chapter is undertaking a program to prepare the community for any disaster that requires volunteers to help in  MASS Care, Family Service, Damage Assessment or Records & Reports.  When a shelter is opened, trained volunteers provide the services to clients such as feeding, babysitting, janitorial and all aspects of shelter living.  Training is provided.

 

Youth Disaster Response

American Red Cross Wood County Chapter is interested in training a youth group t become involved with disaster response.

 

On-Call After Hours Response

American Red Cross Wood County Chapter will train community members to participate in an on-call after hours response to single family fires.  Volunteers must have valid drivers license and be 18 years of age to participate in this program.  Training is provided.

 

Wood County Health Department

As a part of Emergency Preparedness Planning, the Wood County Health Department is putting together a list of potential volunteers to call if a mass clinic is needed.  A mass clinic is held when a large number of people, perhaps the entire county, would need to be vaccinated or given medication in the event of a communicable disease outbreak or bioterrorism event.  There are many roles at a mass clinic to be filled, from nurses to greeters.  Many people are needed to make the clinic run smoothly and efficiently.

Companion Day Services

Adult volunteers assistance appreciated to assist at Companion Day Services, a part of the New Tiny Tiger Intergenerational Center.  Consider working with out participants and staff in in one the following areas taking into account your talents, expertise and interests: trivia, puzzles, crosswords, reading, creative arts, crafts, music physical exercise etc.

 

 

Drivers for the Elderly

The aging resource center of Wood County is seeking drives for the elderly in Marshfield, Arpin, Vesper and Pittsville to drive the elderly Wood County residents from their homes to medical appointments, wait for them, and drive them back home.

 

Respite Care

The Marshfield Area Respite Care Center is in need of volunteers to make a regular commitment to offer one-to-one attention to clients.  This opportunity is ideal for adults or teens.  Teens required to do community service welcome.

 

Lunch Hour Volunteers

Lunch Hour volunteers are needed at Cedar Rail and Parkview Apartments from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday - Friday.

 

Marshfield Center Nursing Home

Volunteers needed to weekly BINGO, one-to-one visits, musical programs, games, cooking/baking with residents, exercises, writing for residents and outside trips.

 

Service to Seniors

The many needs that volunteers can help to fulfill include: delivering meals on wheels, the congregate lunch program, medical transportation, food shopping, friendly visiting and phone calls. Volunteers who possess special skills are encouraged to donate them through teaching a class or developing a new program with Marshfield Committee on Aging members.

 

Home Repair Program

Volunteers go into the homes of seniors and install grab bars, railings, smoke detectors, rain gutters, etc.  Small home repairs help to keep seniors in their own homes for a longer period and keep them sage.

 

Circle of Life Work Group

Participate as your schedule allows in workgroups that support individual, families and caregivers facing life threatening or end of life situations.  Advnace Care Planning Forums, Caregiver Support, Annual Holiday Service Rememberance, End of Life Tool Kit and Share the Care.  Occasional clerical duties also available.

 

Youth Services

 

 

Child Care

Child Care Centers of Marshfield have three sites and are in the need of volunteers to make a difference in the lives of children.  Activities range from reading, playing, singing or just overall caring and having fun.  Background check and training required.

 

Youth Net

Volunteer at an after school program by leading art or craft projects, reading one-on-one, tutoring one-on-one or teach one of your skills or interests.

 

Girl Scouts

Volunteers needed for Girl Scout programming.  Assist with local outreach programming, troop events and meetings, or attend Camp Sacajawea in Wisconsin Rapids to help with special program opportunities for girls.

 

After School Scout Leader

Needed:  Adult who enjoys working with kids in a fun atmosphere.  These kids are part of a non-traditional after school Cub Scout Program.  The time commitment would be one hour every two weeks.  No previous Scouting experience needed.

 

We are also looking for other adult volunteer to help us with our traditional Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing programs.  Our youth need good leaders to spend time with them growing in the scouting experience.

 

Marshfield Area Courage Day Camp

Volunteers are needed to help with a 2-week camp for kids with disabilities, held in summer 2007.  Opportunities include camp counselor and possible clerical duties.  Experience working with people with disabilities helpful but not required.  Must be 15 years old or above.

 

School Buddy Program

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Wood County (BBBS) created the School Buddy Program to form solid relationships between volunteers from our community and children from area schools.  The School Buddy Program is established in  Marshfield Public Elementary (grades 1-6) Marshfield Alternative School Middle School (grades 7-8) ,Auburndale and Stratford Elementary Schools (grades 1-6). School Buddy volunteers meet with a child on school grounds during designated school hours.  Mentors are asked to commit themselves to the program for one hour per week for the school year, where they will work primarily on school work with their School Buddies

We are looking for volunteers to be special friends for children!  Volunteers should have a positive outlook on life and possess a desire to truly help a child.  We encourage applications from mentors’ high school age and up!

 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County (BBBS) programs are designed to fill the need of a positive role model during a child’s development years.  We are looking for inspiring, caring men and women to meet once a week, for a few hours with their Little Brother or Little Sister, to share everyday activities such as doing errands, gardening, shooting hoops, baking cookies, and helping with homework.

Mentors for Youth

Pathway Partners Mentoring Program  at Marshfield Senior High School needs adult volunteers to mentor high school students.  The focus of the program is career planning and exploration.  Mentors meet a minimum of hone hour per month with their partner at MHS.  Training and materials are provided.  Mentors ideally could work with the same student for 2-3 years, nurturing a lasting friendship.

 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County

Needed:  Inspiring, caring men and women to be matched with children who want new friends.  Meet once a week with your Little Brother or Sister.  Share everyday activities such as doing errands. gardening, changing a tire, building a bird house, baking cookies, helping with homework and shopping.  These are some of the experiences you can share with a child from our community by becoming a Big Brother, Big Sister, or Big Couple.  Ongoing fundraising project is the Aluminum Cans for Kids.

Marshfield Public Library

Book Buddies Marshfield Public Library needs volunteers to provide service to library users who are unable to come to the library to select materials for themselves.  Book Buddies select, deliver, and return materials for homebound patrons.

 

Magazine Organizing  Marshfield Public Library needs help to shelf-read (organize by date) the magazines in October/November.  This is important preparation for an annual relocation project.

 

Scouting Committee Volunteer Opportunities

In order for us to continue to running a quality scouting program here in Marshfield and the neighboring communities, we are always in need of quality volunteers to serve on our committee.  There are a variety of positions that are vacant and no scouting background is required.  If you are interested in helping us continue to bring a quality program to our youth, then please consider contacting us.  We strive to bring our youth the best program possible, and you can help make a difference in the lives of today's youth.

 

Volunteer at Wildwood Park & Zoo Center

How can you help?  There are endless ways we utilize our volunteers. Let us know what your talents or interests are!  Do you like to grow flowers and work in the dirt?  We have sensory gardens that are home to a variety of butterflies and can be utilized for environmental education programs.  Get tips from a  horticulturalist as you volunteer with us!  Love to work with kids?  Do something unique with your time we offer outdoor projects, tours and special hands-on projects for children.  Be a superhero - Volunteer!  Perhaps you are now retired and would like to share your valuable skills with the community.  volunteers make our community a better place to live!  All volunteers must be 16 years or older.

 

Social Services

Volunteers are needed throughout the year for mentoring young mothers, volunteer drives, drives to transport children to supervised visits and guardians for elderly clients.

 

Assistant "Mom's Club" Facilitator
