Mission Statement: Personal Development Center Inc. (PDC) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to creating a community free from the threat of violence. We recognize that the violence perpetrated against victims is grounded in an abuse of power and reinforced through intimidation and coercion. Our mission is to assist those in distress by identifying options and resources, promoting safety, building hope, and strengthening individuals, families, and our community through case management, advocacy and education.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 8:00A.M. - 4:30P.M. (or by appointment) Visitation Center services are available evenings and weekends to accommodate family needs.

List of programs, descriptions, eligibility requirements and costs of each: All program services are confidential and free of charge.

Services are designed to assist victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, dating violence, elder abuse, and stalking in the greater Marshfield area and surrounding rural communities in northern Wood County and western Marathon County, as well as throughout Clark County.

Adult Victim Advocacy Services (Marshfield area and Clark Count): provides advocacy and support services for adults who are affected by domestic violence and assault. Specialized Abuse in Later life services are available.

Participants find assistance in: Developing a safety plan, locating emergency shelter, obtaining a restraining order, navigating legal issues, finding other services in the community.

Advocates help participants build skills to transition into long-term recovery: goal setting, housing and education, coordination of services with other community agencies, financial concerns and employment, transportation, cultural and social barriers, special needs, issues relating to children.

W.I.S.E.: is an adult education and support group for women who share life experiences as they relate to abuse. General domestic abuse information, facilitated discussion, and participant concerns are addressed each session.

Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy Services (Marshfield area and Clark County): provides comprehensive sexual assault services to adult victims of sexual assault, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, adolescent/teen victims of sexual assault, and elder victims of sexual violence.

Participants find assistance in: receiving medical advocacy, developing a safety plan, locating emergency shelter, obtaining a restraining order, navigating legal issues, finding other services in the community.

Abuse in Later Life Victim Advocacy Services (Marshfield area and Clark County): provides specialized services to victims in later life and adults at risk. Participants find assistance in: Developing a safety plan, locating emergency shelter, obtaining a restraining order, navigating legal issues, finding other services in the community.

Youth Advocacy Services (Marshfield area and Clark County): provides advocacy and support services for children and youth ages pre-k - 18 years who have witnessed or experienced violence in the home, have been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused, or have been identified as at-risk.

Services include: Education and skill building, support groups, individual advocacy, resources and referrals, prevention education.

Youth Learn: skills to gain more control over their response to unsafe situations, safety planning and protective behaviors, identifying healthy relationships and how to cope with bullying, teen dating violence, and the importance of making positive choices.

Growing Connections: Is a parent child support group developed to help support children and the protective parent of domestic violence/sexual assault learn to identify their feelings, develop coping skills, and enhance positive communication between each other.

Residential Services: Will provide a safe/transitional place for victims to stay while working on needs such as housing and employment. Participants will be referred to other agency services for goals and support, to other community services for long term needs, while follow-up and case management will be provided by housing staff. Self-care, informative, and educational groups will be offered.

Center for Family Visitation: Our supervised visitation and exchange program is a part of a collaborative community effort to provide victims of family violence and their children with safety and support to develop and sustain positive family interaction that reduces the negative impact of violence within families and our community.

Supervised visitation: Provides a safe environment for non-custodial parents to visit and spend quality time with their children while under the supervision of staff members. Services are built around the needs of each family while maintaining the safety of victims and their children, and that appropriate behaviors are adhered to during visits without interfering with the parent child relationship.

Supervised Exchange: Allows for custodial and non-custodial parents to exchange their children in a safe environment without ever having to see each other. This program allows for children to enjoy their time with each parent without witnessing any conflict or threat of violence between their parents.

Between Two Worlds: An interactive class designed to education parents on the effects of divorce or separation on children. Classes are 4 hours in length and meet the statutory requirements of Parent Education Programs for Wisconsin. Services are designed to assist parents who are going through separation, divorce, custody or visitation/exchange issues; un-served victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, dating violence, or stalking, and their children, from the greater Marshfield area and Clark County.
Community Outreach/Prevention Education PDC staff are available to do presentations on PDC services, specific services, education on topics related to domestic violence and/or sexual assault to community groups, community organizations, youth organizations, schools, day cares and businesses.
